FORTUNE COOKIE
On January 10th, 2017 my fortune cookie read “Traveling this year will bring your life into greater perspective”. Boy, was it right! Below are some of my traveling adventures of 2017.

POCONOS MOUNTAINS
To celebrate my birthday, I drove with my boyfriend Daniel and friend Maria to the Poconos Mountains in Pennsylvania. We skied over MLK weekend at Jack Frost & Big Boulder Mountains.

FORT VALLEY RANCH
Daniel and I visited Fort Valley Ranch in the Shenandoah Valley back in February.

SOUTH ROYALTON, VERMONT
Daniel got accepted to Vermont Law School out in South Royalton, Vermont and we decided to visit in April for their Student Orientation.

NEW ORLEANS
In May we planned a girls trip to New Orleans where we ate WAY too much. Visit my blog post about our trip.

PHILADELPHIA
My family spent the 4th of July in Philadelphia, PA where we got to freshen up our knowledge of American history!
THE NETHERLANDS
In August we began our “Euro-trip” in the Netherlands! We spent several days in Amsterdam and then ventured out to the city of Haarlem.

AUSTRIA
Our next stop was in Austria where we spent the majority of our time in the state of Salzburg. Read about our amazing trip here.

GERMANY
The shortest part of our “Euro-trip” was spent in Germany. We stayed overnight in Munich and had the chance to visit Neuchwanstein Castle.

MARYLAND
For the past three years, Daniel and I have made it a point to spend a weekend in the summer in Maryland (typically near Annapolis). This time we brought Luna along!

WINERY TRIPS
You can’t live in Virginia and not take advantage of the amazing wineries in the region! This year we took several trips, including to: Fox Meadow Winery and Fabbioli Cellars.

CAVERNS
This year I had the chance to visit two caverns out in Virginia – Luray Caverns and Shenandoah Caverns.

GLAMPING IN SHENANDOAH VALLEY
A group of friends and I rented an AirBnb out in the Shenandoah Valley to experience the fall foliage in all it’s glory!

CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA
On the way down to Miami, Florida to spend the holidays with our family, Daniel and I spent the night in Charleston, South Carolina and got to enjoy it’s Southern charm.

EVERGLADES
A trip to Miami isn’t complete without spending time in nature! We visited the Everglades National Park and spent the day learning about the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida.

BOOKS READ:
One of the best parts about traveling is the chance to catch up on reading! Below is a list of the books I read this year – whether on a plane, train or driving in the car!

- The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander
- Drown by Junot Diaz
- Who Thought This Was a Good Idea by Alyssa Mastromonaco
- His Perfect Partner by Priscilla Oliveras
- The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish
- Giant of the Senate by Al Franken
- Born a Crime by Trevor Noah (started)
