We had the amazing opportunity to travel to Barcelona, Spain for a weeklong trip back in May 2018. Not only did we get to explore all that Barcelona has to offer, but we even had the chance to take a few day trips to other cities in the region.
One of our favorite parts about Barcelona was the FOOD. We visited a ton of restaurants that were not only delicious but also kind to our wallet. Here are some of my suggestions for breakfast, tapas, dinner & drinks:
Restaurant: Garden Caffè
Location: Platja de la Nova Icaria (Plaça de Tirant lo Blanc, 2)
Price: €
Ratings: 4.5/5
What to Eat: Great place for breakfast or brunch. Prices were reasonable, the decor was eclectic and it was a block from the beach. Try the banana pancakes with nutella!

Restaurant: Bilbao Berria
Location: Gothic Quarter (Plaça Nova, 3)
Price: €€
Ratings: 4/5
What to Eat: All the tapas! This restaurant was our favorite lunch spot because it was cheap, had a variety of options and was a quick bite. You grab a plate and put any tapas you want on your plate. You then keep the toothpicks in a container on your table and the server will count the amount of toothpicks to determine your bill. Each pinxtos is less than €1.95

Restaurant: Segons Mercat
Location: La Barceloneta (Carrer de Balboa, 16)
Price: €€
Ratings: 4/5
What to Eat: Eat the croquetas de jamón and patatas bravas! This restaurant was one of the stops on our Tapas Tour. We paid € 20 to go on a 3 hour tapas tour and we highly suggest it.
Restaurant: La Bicicleta
Location: Gràcia (Carrer de Verdi, 63)
Price: €€
Ratings: 4.5/5
What to Eat: This local gem was recommended to us by our AirBnb host. We walked here after visiting Park Güell (it’s about a 20 minute walk downhill). These patata bravas were the best we had in Barcelona. Also try the calamars a la planxa amb oli de julivert.

Restaurant: Mercado de La Boqueria
Location: Ciudad Vieja (La Rambla, 91)
Price: €
Ratings: 4.5/5
What to Eat: This is a must-visit place in Barcelona. The indoor public market has a ton of local food vendors and many foods to choose from. Their fresh juices are to die for and SO cheap. Walk around the market before choosing where to eat because the amount of options can be overwhelming. Don’t miss out!

Restaurant: Tosca, Tapas Y Vinos
Location: Ciudad Vieja (Carrer de Sant Pere Més Alt, 8)
Price: €€ – €€€
Ratings: 4.5/5
What to Eat: Not only is the restaurant cozy and quaint, there’s a good variety of tapas to choose from. We made sure to arrive as soon as it opened for dinner to avoid the long lines. Try the empanada filled with caramelized onions, walnuts, goat cheese and mozzarella. The honey and curry chicken skewers are also a must.

Restaurant: Chiringuito Las Sardinitas
Location: Plate de la Nova Icaria (Av. del Litoral, 36)
Price: €€
Ratings: 3.7/5
What to Eat: We still dream of the seafood we ate here. This restaurant is right on the beach with a beautiful view of the water. You MUST get the parrillada de marisco for €25. This seafood platter was good for 2 – 3 people and absolutely delicious.
Restaurant: Viana
Location: Gothic Quarter (Carrer del Vidre, 7)
Price: €€€
Ratings: 5/5
What to Eat: Make a reservation or get here before they open – otherwise you’ll be waiting in a long line. Try the cocktails (blackberry mojito was so yummy)! We ordered the: 1) tuna diced with avocado, apple and soy sauce, 2) prawn veggie roll with sweet chili sauce 3) free range chicken with herbs.

Bar: Barcelo Raval Rooftop
Location: El Raval (Rambla del Raval, 17-21)
Price: €€€
Ratings: 4.5/5
What to Eat: This rooftop bar is located on the top of a hotel that has a 360 degree view of Barcelona. We went just before the sun set and it was gorgeous. The bar was a bit pricey so we just bought a drink and enjoyed the view.

Bar: Mokai Beach Bar
Location: Ciutadella/Vila Olimpica (Platja Nova Icaria)
Price: €€
Ratings: 3/5
What to Eat: What makes this place special is the location! Right on the beach. We ordered rosé, champagne and patatas bravas.
